Political signs come in all shapes
and sizes. For more dramatic looking signs we can die cut to a
specific shape. This can be expensive because a large die would
need to be purchased by the candidate or campaign manager. Each
piece of stock whether it is coroplast or polycote would need to be
die cut either before or after the sign is printed. The great thing
about buying a die is that it can be used again and again for future
orders. However, the most popular size is the standard 18”x24”
coroplast sign or corogated plastic sign. The campaign manager,
candidate, or person that orders the signs usually makes the choice
based on the budget.

Some of the other materials that are used for
campaign signs are polycote or polyethylene coated stock. You can
print on one side or on both sides. The most popular type sign, the
18”x24” coroplast sign, is printed usually in red and blue and is
usually printed with two sides printed.

We can design your sign or utilize your own
design. People look at other candidate’s signs or in political
magazines for ideas. Our design team has over 25 years experience
with political sign design and can get your message across with a
positive and eye-catching message. The biggest mistake people make
when designing their signs is by not utilizing a qualified designer
to help them. Graphic designers have a keen ability with print but
not designing signs.

Candidates tend to want to pick their favorite
colors. Women in general want pretty colors when designing their
signs, pink and purple, yellow and light blue. We try and convince
our customers to pick colors that represent authority, respect, and
humility. Patriotic colors are the most popular since September
11. Some other popular color combinations are red and yellow,
yellow and blue, black and red, yellow and black. We can place
your full color or black and white picture on the sign as well. A
formal, more dignified picture works the best.

Candidates tend to want to place too much
information on the signs which makes the print much smaller and not
easy to ready by anyone driving by at a high rate of speed. The
persons, first and last name and the position they are running for
are enough to place on a political campaign sign. Double sided is
always recommended on the smaller signs. Graphics can be used for
signs as well, such as flags, stars, circles, or the donkey or
elephant. Too many graphics detracts from the candidates name and
can make the sign seem to busy.

Polybag signs seem to be the rage these days. Basically, it’s a
weather proof heavy duty polyethylene bag that has an opaque
lining. The bag is pulled over a frame for ease in installation.
Candidates must order a higher minimum when ordering the polybag
signs. The minimum for these is 1500. You have your choice of up
to 2 colors and the total price includes the frame as well. The
disadvantage of the bag signs is they do tend to fly away if the
sign is not installed properly.

If you are running a campaign you will find that people tend
not to like the bag signs to be placed in front of their homes.
Homeowners by and large tend to like the 18”x24” corrugated plastic
signs with two colors. Coroplast signs are great because you order
the signs with printing on both sides. Corrugated signs tend to not
fly away and hold up a lot better with wind and rain.

We sell the wire frames that go with the corrugated or coroplast
signs for a discounted rate if you order at least 250 signs. We do
not assemble the signs. We pack them separately and the candidate
or person buying the signs must put them together. We also print
the coroplast signs in various other sizes as well. For example, we
print 2’x4’, 4’x4’, and 4’x8’ coroplast signs. With these sizes, we
only print on one side because the candidate usually mounts them on
a piece of ply board and utilizes posts for installing them in the
ground.

Obviously, the more colors that are used on the sign, the higher
the cost. The larger the size, the more visibility the candidate
will get. There are many candidates that do not like the smaller
signs but prefer the large 4’x8’ signs that you see a major
intersections in cites around the country. The larger signs tend to
be expensive unless a large quantity is purchased. The problem
with the larger signs, they tend to be taken down unless they
candidate contacts the landowner where the sign is placed. We
rarely manufacture signs for anyone that has more than 3 colors
printed. If the candidate wants the color to bleed off the edge, we
charge extra. We will also charge extra if the candidate wants to
utilize a custom color that has to be mixed.

Candidates usually do not order enough 18”x24” signs initially
and order more after supporters are asking for signs to give to
their friends and families. Candidates will also give the coroplast
signs to supporters at rallies along with bumper stickers, palm
cards, rally signs, magnets, nail files, cups, pens and various
other items.

Polycote signs are great because they come in
two different sizes, 16”x 26” and 14”x22. We can print on one side
or on both sides. The usual ways these signs are installed are with
a wooden stick. The wire frames do not work as well because they
tend to fall off unless they are stapled. This type of stock is
weather resistant and a coated stock that will not ruin with rain or
snow. This type of material is great for printing posters as
well. Posters can be a wise choice if you want to give away large
quantities. On some posters you can use a stick.

Increasing public awareness or reinforcing
political campaign ideas are some of the reasons why candidates
purchase political campaign signs. For maximum exposure, it’s
important to pinpoint the people who believe in your campaign or
cause. These are the people who will display your posters or
signs. Voter awareness is the main reason candidates buy signs.
They want to get to the people that do not read the paper on a
regular basis but see their photo on a sign everyday when they go to
work.
